The “Ladies in politics: 2025” map, created by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and UN Ladies, presents new information for girls in govt positions and nationwide parliaments as of 1 January 2025. These information illustrate males’s overrepresentation in decision-making worldwide, thereby slowing down the achievement of equality between men and women in politics.
Ladies function Heads of State and/or Authorities in solely 25 nations and make up 27.2 per cent of Members of Parliament. Globally, fewer than one in 4 cupboard ministers is a lady (22.9 per cent). The 2025 map reveals that, whereas ladies lead necessary human rights, gender equality, and social safety coverage portfolios, males dominate coverage areas like overseas affairs, monetary and financial affairs, residence affairs, and defence.
